Kolokacije o Vestima

Half of this set is one noun with different adjectives in front of it, which makes it a clean lesson in agreement. Vesti is feminine plural, so every adjective ends in -e: odlične, tragične, tužne, užasne, ohrabrujuće vesti.

The singular exists too, and it means one single item: stara vest is one piece of old news, while vesti is the news as a whole, or the news programme on television. Serbian keeps that difference where English has to say a piece of news.

The last three items are the legal end of journalism. Kleveta is libel — a written falsehood about somebody — and tužiti za klevetu is to sue over it. Note the accusative after za: klevetu.

And izveštavanje is the reporting itself, the verbal noun from izveštavati. A journalist izveštava, and what ends up on air is izveštavanje — the same -nje machinery you saw in drogiranje and putovanje.
