Serbian 401 — the word English doesn't have, and the one mistake almost every learner makes.
English says my brother whoever is talking. Serbian asks a different question first: is the owner the same person as the subject of the sentence? If yes, you must use svoj. If no, you use moj, tvoj, njegov.
So Niži sam od svog brata — I am the subject, the brother is mine, so it's svog. But Moja žena od mojih roditelja dobije parfem — the subject is my wife, the parents are mine, not hers, so svojih would be wrong. The English hint in each sentence tells you which: (my own) means the owner is the subject, (my) means it isn't.

The longer forms svojeg, mojeg, tvojeg are equally correct and accepted here — they just sound more formal.
Everything in this exercise sits after od, which always takes the genitive: od svog brata, viši od svoje sestre, pozajmio sam od svojih roditelja.

SR (lat): Prvo nađi subjekat rečenice, pa onda vidi čije je. Duži oblici (svojeg, mojeg, tvojeg) se takođe priznaju. Može latinicom ili ćirilicom.
СР (ћир): Прво нађи субјекат реченице, па онда види чије је. Дужи облици (својег, мојег, твојег) се такође признају. Може латиницом или ћирилицом.
