This is practical vocabulary, and unusually high-stakes: these are the words in the advertisement, in the agency contract, and in the argument about the deposit.

A note on the words for the place itself. Stan is a flat, kuća is a house, and zgrada is the building the flat is in. Serbian keeps them apart more strictly than English does: you live u stanu, and the zgrada is the thing with the entrance and the neighbours.
And two verbs that look interchangeable and are not: iznajmiti can mean both to rent out and to rent, depending on who is doing it, while izdati is specifically to let a place to someone. If the ad says izdaje se, someone is offering. If you say tražim stan, you are looking.
