Državni Posao

Scripted dialogue is the closest thing to real speech that still holds still long enough to study. This minute is from Državni posao, and it moves fast, interrupts itself, and swallows half its endings — which is the whole point.

Three constructions carry most of the scene, and all three put the person in the dative or the accusative rather than making them the subject:

Iz dijaloga	Šta se dešava
Nije mi ni do čega.	impersonal + dative: I don’t feel like anything. Nobody is the subject.
Šta vas tišti?	tištati takes the accusative: the worry does the acting, you receive it.
Dospele su mi rate za kredit.	the instalments are the subject; mi is the poor soul they fell due on.

Vocabulary worth keeping: dospeti is the word banks use for a payment falling due, tištati is a heavy, unnamed worry, and obratiti se nekome is to turn to somebody for help — dative again, and the phrase you would actually use in an office.

Listen to the whole minute twice before filling anything in. Torbica speaks over the others, and the gaps only make sense once you know who is complaining and who is teasing.
