Serbian 301 — one little word, and everything after it changes case.
Say puno (or mnogo, malo, nekoliko) and the noun behind it drops into the genitive. Not the accusative you'd expect after imam or jedem — the genitive wins, because the quantity word is what's really governing the phrase.
Then a second decision follows immediately, and it's the one this exercise is really about: singular or plural genitive? It depends on whether the thing can be counted.
| Type | Nominative | After PUNO |
|---|---|---|
| uncountable | šećer, voda, novac | puno šećera, puno vode, puno novca — gen. sg. |
| countable, masc. | filmovi, kompjuteri | puno filmova, puno kompjutera — gen. pl. |
| countable, fem. | knjige, cipele | puno knjiga, puno cipela — gen. pl. |
Sugar, water and money come as a mass, so they stay singular. Books and shoes come in units, so they go plural. And feminine plurals in the genitive famously end in -a — which makes knjiga look like the nominative singular even though it isn't.
Two to memorise on sight: novac → novca (the a falls out) and psi → pasa, which does whatever it likes.
1. Imam puno . (šećer)
2. Jedem puno . (hleb)
3. Pijem puno . (voda)
4. Gledam puno . (serije)
5. Gledam puno . (filmovi)
6. Jedem puno . (salata)

9. Nemam puno . (novac)

11. Pijem puno . (kafa)
12. Imam puno . (kompjuteri)

The countable ones on their own — this is the form worth drilling.

3. psi → (nepravilno)
4. knjige →
5. cipele →
6. pare →
7. serije →
8. novac → (jednina, ispada A)
