Visoravan is a compound worth taking apart: visok + ravan, high and flat — a plateau. It is feminine and ends in a consonant, so it declines like ljubav: na visoravni.
Ručno napravljena is given here in the feminine because it describes brvnara. For a masculine noun it would be ručno napravljen, for a neuter one ručno napravljeno — the adverb ručno never moves, the participle always does.
And ivica does double duty exactly as English does: the edge of a table, and the brink of something worse. Na ivici is where this story starts.
