Fraze u Autobusu

Bus vocabulary is where a lot of otherwise good Serbian falls apart, because the phrases are short, fast and idiomatic. Three of them are worth pulling out before you start.

Koliko stanica and koliko stajališta both mean how many stops. Stanica is the bigger word — a station, a terminus, the place where you buy a ticket. Stajalište is literally a standing-place: the pole and the shelter where the bus pauses. Locals use both, and nobody will correct you either way.

U jednom pravcu is a one-way ticket; the return is simply povratna — an adjective doing the work of a noun, because karta is understood. Same trick as English "a single, please".

And notice the first item: kad se budem vraćala is what a woman says. A man says kad se budem vraćao. The exercise accepts both, because the participle agrees with whoever is speaking — that is the future II, and it is the tense Serbian uses after kad where English just says when I come back.
